Whole-Home Rewiring

Rewiring comes up for a few distinct reasons, and they call for different approaches. Some homes still have knob-and-tube wiring or aluminum branch wiring from the 1960s and 70s, both of which carry known safety concerns and are frequently flagged by insurers and home inspectors. Others have copper wiring that's simply undersized or ungrounded for today's electrical loads. And some homeowners are rewiring specific rooms as part of a larger renovation, not the whole house.

A full rewire — running new wiring throughout the home and reconnecting every device, switch, and fixture — is the most thorough option and is usually done alongside other renovation work, since it's far less disruptive when walls are already open. Where that's not practical, a partial or room-by-room rewire addresses the highest-risk circuits first (kitchens, bathrooms, and any area with visibly damaged or outdated wiring) while leaving lower-priority areas for a later phase.

We assess the existing wiring type, condition, and grounding before recommending an approach, and we're direct about what actually needs replacing versus what's still safe. Not every older wire needs to come out — the goal is addressing genuine risk and code gaps, not maximizing the scope of the job.
